Wine

Sinapius La Clairiére Close Planted Pinot Noir is a blend of seven clones of Pinot Noir from La Clairiére (the clearing) Block, sited on ironstone rich, silty duplex soils.

Modelled after Pinot Noir's homeland of Burgundy, the block is planted at very high density: up to 10,000 vines per hectare. Fierce competition for nutrients results in very low yields of intensely flavoured grapes.

All of the fruit is fermented as whole berries with natural yeasts. Following 18 months of maturation in French oak barriques, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Magenta red, Sinapius La Clairiére Close Planted Pinot Noir is a round, silky wine with red forest fruit flavours and a long finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
